Central Pender Park will be located 3378 U.S. Highway 117 in Burgaw. The public is welcome to the groundbreaking ceremony, Wednesday, March 27, at 1 p.m. Community leaders and officials — including Pender County Board of County Commissioners and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board — will be in attendance and some will deliver remarks.
The park will be a multi-use recreational facility, featuring a paved walking path, multipurpose fields, playground, concession stand, picnic shelters, restrooms, and open green space. It will serve as a hub for outdoor activities, youth sports, and community gatherings.
“This park is an investment in our community, providing much-needed recreational space for families, athletes, and residents of all ages,” Zachary White, director Pender County Parks and Recreation, said in a release. “We are excited to break ground on a facility that will serve Pender County for years to come.”
