WILMINGTON — An historic museum is in need of more volunteers.
The Bellamy Museum, operational since 1994, welcomes more than 20,000 people to its grounds annually to learn about the Civil War, the mansion’s role in it, as well as the family who had the home built. Its Greek Revival and Italianate style was designed by architect James F. Post.
More than 80 volunteers help bring to life the many lectures given at the museum, on history, race and architecture, as well as offshoot events, such as jazz concerts and movie nights. Volunteers take on numerous duties, acting as tour interpreters, greeters, gardeners and builders who maintain the site.
