CFCC names new nursing and allied health building

WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Community College has announced the name for its new allied health building at 315 N. Front St. the City of Wilmington purchased for it October 2022.

The building will be named the Dan and Sheila Saklad Health and Human Services Center. The Saklad’s donated $3 million to the building.

The center opened and started serving students on January 5, 2024. Phase II of the building renovations will include a new dental clinic, additional space for dental assistant and hygienist programs, and additional nursing classrooms, simulation spaces, and faculty offices.

“I am honored to contribute to Cape Fear Community College, a longstanding beneficiary of our support,” Dan Saklad said in a press release. “This investment further strengthens our regional healthcare workforce, a profession near and dear to Sheila and my family. I hope that this contribution empowers future healthcare professionals and makes a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.”
