WILMINGTON N.C. – A local company has put forth a challenge to other businesses to raise tens of thousands for nonprofit NourishNC.

PolyQuest — a distributor and manufacturer of PET resins — has committed to doubling the amount raised to help the nonprofit. The goal is to raise $15,000 by June 1.

“Whatever is raised, PolyQuest will match,” Heather Salgreen, development and communications director, told PCD.

NourishNC works to reduce food insecurity in the county by ensuring school-aged children and their families are well-fed through various programs, such as The Backpack Program, The Market on Market (The MoM), and The Food Farmacy Program. The programs established by NourishNC resulted in 600,000 meals distributed community-wide last year.

PolyQuest is requesting donations of $1,000 or more from local businesses to give to NourishNC. The total funds will be used to pack 1,100 weekend food bags distributed weekly in New Hanover County.

Businesses who would like to donate to the challenge, and be recognized for their contribution, can contact Heather Sellgren at development@nourishnc.org
