WILMINGTON — Roughly 500 leaders and activists will come together Sept. 28 through Sept. 30 to discuss pressing issues facing North Carolinians.
The NAACP North Carolina State Conference is holding its 80th convention at the Wilmington Convention Center, situated on the Cape Fear Riverfront at 10 Convention Center Dr.
They’re congregating around the theme #FightingForward and will address voting and reproductive rights, redistricting, and education reform. The meetup also will put forth NAACP’s policy agenda priorities for 2024.
NAACP North Carolina President and Wilmingtonian Deborah Dicks Maxwell stated in a press release there will be multiple, diverse sessions for participants — “from legislative sessions to plenary discussions, luncheons, and entertainment, the convention will be a vibrant hub of advocacy and collaboration.”
A press conference will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m., at the convention center.
