WILMINGTON — Volunteers are needed to help pack food to distribute to those in need around the globe.
St. James Episcopal Church in downtown Wilmington will host its annual Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing event on Sept. 9. The international relief organization gives out food and aid to the world’s most vulnerable.
St. James is helping to pack meals to send worldwide, in particular, noting the war in Ukraine, which has impacted food shortages. Rise Against Hunger serves people experiencing food insecurity in 76 countries.
More than 250 community members are needed to assist over the course of two shifts — 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The church will supply everything needed for packing the meals; childcare will be available on site for young children.
