SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Communities in Schools in both Pender and New Hanover counties will host its 23rd Stuff the Bus event ahead of the 2023-2024 school year.

With multiple locations open for people to drop off school supplies, Stuff the Bus will run from Aug. 18 through 20. The school supply drive helps ensure all students have necessary resources to start a new school year without barriers.

There will be six different CIS Bus Stops. All are manned by volunteers to collect items from donors to fill buses parked at:

  • Walmart Monkey Junction
  • Walmart Porters Neck
  • Walmart Burgaw
  • Walmart Neighborhood Market Surf City
  • Harris Teeter Mayfaire
  • Office Depot Oleander

There are also nearly 70 businesses, churches and community groups hosting Stuff the Bus collection barrels, with an interactive map found here.

The buses will exit the stops on Aug. 20, with all items divided among social workers at New Hanover and Pender County public schools to help distribute to students.

Those who wish to donate can access needs from the Amazon wish list. Financial donations CIS Cape Fear can be made here.
