Free martial arts, kickboxing instruction open to local youth

WILMINGTON — Youth who live in the City of Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA) have an opportunity to receive free health and fitness classes.

A two-month program with Hammer Kickboxing Academy (HKA) at the Houston Moore Community Center is open, according to a press release. During July and August, HKA will provide the classes to those who are 10 to 14 years of age.

Kickboxing and martial arts builds self-confidence, discipline and fitness.

A waiver must be filled out and signed by a parent. Classes are noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The community center is located at 1601 S. 13th St. For more information, call 910-341-7700.
