WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Area residents interested in the proposed Wrightsville Beach Park Improvements 2023 project will be able to participate in a public meeting this month.

The Town of Wrightsville Beach will host a gathering Tuesday, Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m., in the council chambers, 321 Causeway Dr. A presentation about the project will be given.

It comes at a time the town has an opportunity to secure a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant.

Last year, the park received $397,000 for its pickleball courts, lighting for both the tennis and pickleball courts, and the adjacent MUP. Recreation program specialist Katie Ryan said WB is in the RFQ process to secure engineering services for those funded amenities.

“The 2023 PARTF project is only in the application stages where the Town would be requesting $500,000 for the $1,200,000 project for a MUP to continue from the courts to Causeway Drive and a reconfiguration of the park parking lot,” Ryan added.

All interested citizens are encouraged to attend and comment at the February session.

The 2023 grant application is due to the PARTF authority by May 1.

More information can be accessed by contacting Katie Ryan at (910) 256-7925 or email kryan@towb.org.
