WILMINGTON – The UNCW department of athletics has announced the hiring of Jonathan Bowden as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s golf programs.
Bowden has served on staff at the University of Memphis, Coastal Carolina University and Washington and Lee University. Bowden graduated from Furman University in May of 2009
“Jonathan comes from a family with a strong and deep golfing background,” said UNCW women’s head coach Cindy Ho.
While at Furman, Bowden played four seasons for the Paladins, including two alongside his brother Daniel, UNCW interim head coach of the men’s program, according to the press release.
“His previous experience as an assistant at different levels of golf will be an asset for us on the course as well as in recruiting. We’re looking forward to Jonathan’s enthusiasm and contributions to the success of both programs,” Ho said.
Bowden is a familiar face on the instruction circuit, helping junior golfers in the upstate area of South Carolina while also serving as an instructor at Georgia Tech, Furman and several other camp programs.
