Some people say life is all about numbers. 8 hour work days, 5 days a week, 52 times, and just like that another year has passed. Love is Bald is a local non-profit organization that formed in 2010 and has helped countless families in our local region through donations to recipients such as Pink Heals Cape Fear, Steve Haydu Lo Tide Run, Lump to Laughter, Hope Abounds and Hoggard High School Scholarship Fund.
In 2013, Love is Bald decided to extend its yearly fundraising events to include a downtown fashion show. Wilmington’s well-known City Stage in Level 5 was the host for the first three years and provided a high-energy environment for people to come see local boutique fashion being sported by friends, family and neighbors who are either currently battling cancer, beat their battle or in honor of one whom fought this terrible disease. The bright lights on the runway illuminated the joy and beauty found in the camaraderie of volunteers, sponsors, and attendees all wishing to make a difference.

This event has been so popular that Love is Bald was forced to move the event to downtown’s own Bakery 105 so there would be more room for longer catwalks, more seating, more table space for silent auction items, and more room on the outside terrace for sponsors.
What can you expect from this event? Apparel from local stores, chances to get the best deal on local entertainment and prizes in the silent auction, food and drinks, raffle prizes, laughter, and an immense amount of humility.
We’ve all heard the staggering statistics of those who suffer with cancer, but don’t let them just be a number. Put a face to those numbers; meet them, show your support for them and the thousands of others in our area that are forced to fight.
The 7th Annual Love is Bald Fashion Show is coming up on Aug. 4. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The Fashion Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at LoveisBald.org for $25, or at the door for $30.
