On the morning after the wedding, Sunday brunch is usually the first, and only event left on the schedule. It is normally a time for the bride and groom to say final goodbyes and thank yous to guests who attended. Brunch is also a time to wind down, while filling up on breakfast goodies and mimosas.
For the unconventional couple, Sunday brunch may be a little too traditional. Below are some alternate events to end the weekend in a way that can make your wedding even more distinguished. It wouldn’t hurt to extend some hors d’oeuvres for guests to nibble on, for the activities listed that don’t include food.
Surf lesson
Take advantage of this area by offering a mid-morning surf lesson. There are several surf instructors located in Wilmington who offer group rates. It could be helpful to include an additional RSVP in the original wedding invitation so you can give instructors a headcount during the planning process. You may also want to remind those who participate to bring a swimsuit.
Morning vinyasa flow
An evening wedding with a reception that has everyone dancing into the wee hours of the night may leave your guests feeling groggy the next morning. A morning slow flow for all experience levels could give your tired guests a pick-me-up. You can make it an extra treat by having a yoga instructor provide a lesson at a nearby outdoor location or even the hotel ballroom so that guests don’t have to travel any further than the vicinity of the hotel.
Sunday Morning jam session
Have a lot of friends and family who are musically gifted? They might want to grace the rest of the guests with a Sunday jam session, if it didn’t happen the day before. This could result in guests building a deeper connection with each other, but could also turn into an ongoing collaboration.
Taco bar and drink station
A hearty breakfast of bacon, egg, hash brown, and other foods all condensed into the form of a breakfast taco can make your guests think twice about passing up this Sunday activity. An interactive spin on the typical Sunday brunch lends the choice of taco stuffer to the consumer. For drinks, perhaps a DIY, like an easy raspberry mojito seen in Tasty’s “Happy Hour” video playlist.
