Wilmington Hammerheads fall to Myrtle Beach Mutiny

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Hammerheads lost their Monday evening home game against the Myrtle Beach Mutiny.

The Hammerheads started strong with an early goal only five minutes in when midfielder Cameron Lindley’s free kick found teammate Tanner Roberts for the goal.

The Mutiny came from behind and answered with two back-to-back goals in the 32nd and 36th minutes of the game.

The Mutiny currently holds the third palace spot in the Premier Development League South Atlantic Division.

“I have to give credit to Myrtle Beach – they are a very difficult side to play against with a lot of good players,” Hammerheads Head Coach Kevin Johnson said. “However, I feel we made it easy for them at times. We need to put a bit more pressure on the ball and have a bit more toughness all over the field if we are going to get results in this league. We gave them too much time and space to play tonight.”

Mutiny player solidified the lead over the Hammerheads with a third goal late in the game. The loss leaves the Hammerheads with a record of one win and three losses for the season

The next Hammerheads Home game is Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. For tickets or more information, visit www.wilmingtonhammerheadsyouth.com/pdl.
