Local anglers have chance to come together at Saltwater Sportsman National Series

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Anglers from across the area have a chance to get professional instruction and enjoy a day of camaraderie when The Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series comes to the Port City  on Saturday, Jan. 14, as part of its 30-year anniversary tour.

The National Seminar Series is the nation’s longest-running educational course on recreational marine fishing tactics and techniques. The tour is presented by Bass Pro Shops and hosted by George Poveromo, of “George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing” on the NBC Sports Network.

Ric Burnley, a renowned light-tackle inshore and near-shore angling authority and regional editor for Salt Water Sportsman, will co-host. The event will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. Tickets for the event are $55.

Each presentation on the eight-city tour is geared to the how-tos and where-tos of catching saltwater fish in that specific region — inshore, near shore and offshore. Courses at the Wilmington event will focus on fool-proof red drum tactics, trolling for blue fin tuna; selective live-baiting for jumbo trout; scoring keeper sheep shead around local bridges, jetties, and offshore reefs and wrecks.

Teams of top local pros and nationally-recognized saltwater angling authorities serve as the faculty at each seminar. For the full list of instructors joining Poveromo and Burnley in Wilmington, see the website.
