NEWARK, Del. – The UNCW men’s basketball team panned more road gold on a snowy night on the Delmarva late Saturday night and third-year skipper Kevin Keatts says the Seahawks are not finished.
The CAA-leading Seahawks (15-2, 4-0) built a working margin and prevailed, 91-81, over host Delaware (7-10, 0-4) to win their fourth straight and sweep a two-game swing through the frigid northeast. The Seahawks are an eye-popping 7-1 in true road games and 9-2 in all games away from Trask Coliseum this season

UNCW sits at 4-0 in the CAA for just the third time in school history, joining the 1993-94 and 2001-02 clubs in that lane. The Seahawks can become the first team since UNCW joined the CAA in 1984-85 to open the season at 5-0 in the circuit with a win when William & Mary pays a visit to Trask Coliseum on Thursday.
Sophomore C.J. Bryce led the way with a career-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting and senior guard Denzel Ingram collected his third 20-plus game of the season with 23 points, including 20 in a big second half. Sophomore forward Devontae Cacok scored 16 with 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
Bryce has now reached double figures in 13 consecutive games, second behind only Northeastern’s T.J. Williams.
The Seahawks, who blew past Drexel, 90-72, on Thursday in Philadelphia, scooted down to Newark and shot 61.9 percent in the second half and 57.7 percent for the game to cap a challenging five-game stretch in 11 days.
Led by Bryce and Cacok, the Seahawks carved out a 40-35 lead at intermission and survived several runs by the pesky Blue Hens after the break to win for the fourth time in five games against UD.
The Seahawks open a two-game home stand on Thursday with the 7 p.m. matchup with William & Mary.
