College Soccer: Watch N.C. State blank UNC-Wilmington

WILMINGTON- Sophomores Julius Duchscherer and Clayton Sparks each scored a goal as NC State earned a 2-0 victory over UNCW in a non-conference game at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Wolfpack, which won its second consecutive game, improved to 5-9-0 on the season, while the Seahawks dropped to 7-3-2.

Duchscherer gave the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when he scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season off assists from redshirt freshman forward Stephen Elias and sophomore defender Simon Blotko.

With 5:11 remaining in regulation, Sparks upped the advantage to 2-0 when he tallied his third goal of the season past redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Cretens. The Wolfpack limited UNCW to just five shots, including one in the first half.  Cretens tallied two saves in the loss for the Seahawks.

UNCW had its five-game home unbeaten streak snapped and the Seahawks were shut out for just the third time this season.

The Seahawks resume their Colonial Athletic Association schedule on Saturday, Oct. 22, by visiting Northeastern at 6 p.m.
