Ashley, New Hanover soccer on collision course atop the division

The Wildcats avenged an early season setback to Laney as New Hanover grabbed a 1-0 result to extend its winning streak to eight straight at Legion Stadium on Monday night.

Sophomore Moss Lewis found the back of the net off an assist from Declan Dayne, while senior goal keeper Roman Lewis made four saves to preserve the shutout. The Wildcats, who have conceded just three goals in nine division games this season, remain tied atop the conference with Ashley at 9-1 in league play and 14-3 overall.

Six different players found the back of the net for Ashley in a 6-0 shutout against West Brunswick. Josh Chapman, Joey Cenatiempo, Jonathan Gainer, Chris Bautista, Dom Toone and Elijah Akins each found the scoring sheet.

The Screaming Eagles are 9-1 in conference and 10-3-1 overall heading into a key match with Ashley on Thursday, Oct. 20.
