Prep scoreboard: high school soccer, tennis, volleyball results

Hoggard 9    Lumberton 0

Cesar Cruz found the back of the net four times, including a first half hat trick as Hoggard cruised to a 9-nil shutout at Lumberton on Tuesday. Andrew Robinson and Sawyer Royall added a pair of goals for the Vikings.

New Hanover 6     New Bern 2

Robert Franck and Moss Lewis tallied twice as New Hanover pulled out a 6-2 win at New Bern. Nick Efter and Jackson Lumpkin also found the scoring sheet, while Lewis recorded four assists.

The Wildcats are off to a 3-0 start heading into a match against West Forsyth on Friday.

Josh Chapman scored the lone goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 65th minute to give Ashley a 1-nil result over Jack Britt.

North Brunswick 2   Cape Fear Academy 0

North Brunswick broke a scoreless contest after the break to pick up a 2-0 victory against Cape Fear Academy.

A direct kick by Brian Lopez deflected off of Robert Fairbanks to put the Scorpions on the board in the 59th minute. Lopez put the finishing touches on the result with a score late in the match on an assist from Raunel Dominguez. Daniel Lahnum posted the clean sheet.

Coastal Christian 8    Wilmington Christian 0

Walker Henderson tallied three goals in the opening 40 minutes of action to guide Coastal Christian to an 8-0 rout over Wilmington Christian. Five different Centurions found the scoring sheet and Henderson put in his fourth goal of the match in the 44th minute off an assist from Jake Hahn.

Topsail rebounded from last night’s setback with an impressive 3-1 result against Pender on Tuesday.

Kaylee Kyle led the way with 15 points, 22 assists, seven digs and five aces. Victoria Elder added 13 kills in the attack, while Azia Anderson chipped in with 35 digs on defense.

Wilmington Christian rolled to its second win in as many nights following a 3-1 victory at Coastal Christian. Caroline Fountain continued to put together a strong start to her senior season at setter with 39 assists. Ellie Kohl put in an all-around effort with nine kills, three aces and 10 digs. Kayla Ball and Georgia Davis combined for 16 kills and six blocks.

Topsail rolled to an 8-1 victory over Swansboro on Tuesday. While the final result favored the Pirates, singles play on court three, four and five saw matches extended to a trio of 10 point tiebreakers. Kinsley Beverage and Kasey Pfaff were able to pull out victories, while Caroline Harris and Sierra Dougherty cruised atop the lineup to give Topsail a 5-1 lead going in doubles.
