ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Christian Volesky and Steevan Dos Santos each found the back of the net to give the Rochester Rhinos a 2-0 result over Wilmington Hammerheads FC on Saturday night.
With the victory, the Rhinos improved to 9-5-8 (35 points) overall and 7-2-3 at home. Wilmington fell to 6-9-6 (24 points) overall and 3-5-3 on the road.

It was the Rhinos’ first multi-goal game since July 16. Rochester tallied just before the break and early in the second half to remain within the playoff picture inside the USL Eastern Conference Table.
Volesky and Dos Santos did the legwork on the scoring side as Dos Santos attacked from the left flank to set up Volesky’s opening goal in the 44th minute. Volesky returned the favor minutes after the break with a ball on the right side of the box to set up Dos Santos.
The clean sheet was the Rhinos’ seventh of the season as Rochester dictated play throughout the first half. Wilmington goalkeeper Eric Ati was tested early and often, but Rochester kept the pressure up to record three points in the USL standings.
Wilmington remains in a whirlwind and struggling to get in the win column. The Hammerheads get back on the pitch in Charlotte on Saturday, Aug. 13.
