Love is in the air, but if you’re still not sure how to woo your sweetheart this weekend, never fear – Cupid is here.
Whether it’s a quiet, romantic dinner or a night on the town your special someone craves, we’ve got you covered with a list of Valentine’s Day-themed events sure to win you some big points.
Fitness-minded couples can connect with a special yoga session at Harmony Wellness Studio, 4320 Wrightsville Ave., Unit B, from 4-5:15 p.m. Saturday. Through supported postures and adjustments, this class aims to sharpen body awareness and balance energy. The class fee is $12. And from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sona Wellness, 38 N. Lumina Ave. in Wrightsville Beach, offers a couple’s class featuring barre, TRX and partner yoga. Complimentary champagne and strawberries will be served. The cost is $30 per couple.
If you’d rather set the mood with a lovely sunset along the riverfront, Wilmington Water Tours, 212 S. Water St., will head out on the Cape Fear River at 5 p.m. You and your valentine will be greeted with a long-stem rose as you board. Award-winning Bon Appetit Catering will serve up a four-course meal, including an assortment of desserts. Tickets are $40. The tour boat will launch again at 2 p.m. Sunday for an afternoon of sweets from Bon Appetit and mimosas for $26 per person.
If craft brew is your passion, Fermental, 7250 Market St. in Ogden, hosts a free pairing of wine and beer at 6 p.m. Saturday. Similar to a wine dinner or a beer pairing, the bottle shop will take aspects of each drink and find its liquid counterpart in both structure and essence. Local folk act Kyle Lindley and Friends will perform and Funky Fresh Food Truck will be onsite. There’ll be plenty of holiday candy on hand, as well.
You can kick off your Sunday date night with love songs, old-school style, at Opera Wilmington’s “Amore! Songs of Love,” a performance of arias, duets, trios and quartets that highlight facets of opera’s favorite topic, l’amour. Champagne and chocolate will be served. The concert gets underway at 4 p.m., and tickets are $40.
On Sunday, Sweet n Savory Cafe, 1611 Pavilion Place, serves up a five-course meal from a Prix fixe menu Sunday, with seating times from 5-10 p.m. (reservations required). The cafe is dressing up for the night, with tablecloths, candles and flowers. For dessert, head downtown to the Brooklyn Arts District for a stout and dessert pairing at Flytrap Brewing, 319 Walnut St., from 6 to 9 p.m. Momma Rocks Dessert Truck will dish out sweets to complement one of several Flytrap Stouts. Americana singer/songwriter Travis Shallow will perform. Admission is free.
And you can’t go wrong with dinner and dancing. Babs McDance’s “The Lady and The Tramp” event offers just that, with a spaghetti and meatballs dinner (vegetarian options available), Italian bread, dessert and wine. Then, hit the dancefloor with your Valentine. The cost is $20 for member and $25 for non-members.

Flytrap Brewing presents a free live show from Americana singer/songwriter Mike Blair at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday). 2 Bros. Coastal Cuisine will be onsite serving sandwiches and Poutine from 7 to 10. Folk musician Kyle Lindley performs at 8 p.m. Friday, with Pepe’s Taco Truck serving up Mexican street food from 7 to 11. On Saturday, jazz rock band The Smoothrays Duo goes on at 8, and Catch the Food Truck will be on hand from 7 to 9.
Morning Glory Coffee House hosts Jazz and Java each Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. The ongoing event features rotating line-ups of live jazz, fusion, blues and swing artists. Admission is free.
Josh Moore – former frontman for hardcore band Beloved and alt-punk outfit Classic Case – comes to Bourgie Nights Friday. Chris Fisina is the opening act. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 the day of the show.
Female acoustic duo Capricious performs live at Bombers Bev Co. Friday. The show runs from 9 to 11 p.m., and admission is free.
Theater/Comedy
Budding stand-ups can test their chops during Dead Crow Comedy Room’s weekly open mic night each Thursday. Sign-ups begin at 7 p.m., with comics taking the stage at 8. There is no cover charge.
Arthur Miller’s classic “Death of a Salesman” continues at Thalian Hall at 7:30 p.m. tonight Shows will run at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for tonight’s performance and $30 for all other shows ($15 for 17 and under).
Big Dawg Productions’ first performance of the 2016 season, Neil Simon’s iconic comedy, “The Odd Couple,” is set for 8 p.m. tonight through Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cape Fear Playhouse. Tickets are $15-$18.
Kenny Zimlinghaus brings his stand-up to Dead Crow Comedy Room this weekend. Zimlinghaus is on XM Radio’s “Wake Up with Taylor” and Cosmo Radio. He’ll perform at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a special Valentine’s Day show at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20-$25 and dinner is always available.
Daniel Beaty’s “Emergency” comes to UNC-Wilmington’s Kenan Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday. In this one-man show, Beaty portrays 40 characters reacting to a slave ship emerging in front of the Statue of Liberty. Tickets are $15-$40.
Super Saturday Fun Time Kids’ Variety Show continues this Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at TheatreNOW. The ongoing series features Captain Plunkett, Dock the Dog and the Dock Street Kids as they unravel mysteries tied to Wilmington’s history and local attractions in Scooby Doo-style. A new “episode” happens each week. Tickets are $6 or $48 for a 10 episode subscription.
