Pending school board approval in Wake County, he will rejoin Southeast Raleigh High School, where he spent nearly a decade as head of the football program and as the school’s athletic director. He confirmed the move via text message on Sunday.

Finn was at Southeast Raleigh for eight years prior to moving his family to Brunswick County, having served as athletic director from 2011-13. He was head football coach from 2006-11 and coached two seasons at South Brunswick.

The Cougars went 2-9 and 4-8 during his tenure after South Brunswick had an 0-11 season the year prior to Finn’s arrival.

He enjoyed a ton of success during his time in Raleigh, with a 56-21 record and two trips to the third round of the state playoffs.

Finn will replace Mike Thibodeau, who stepped down as head coach of the Bulldogs in November. Southeast Raleigh went 8-14 during Thibodeau’s time on the sidelines. The Bulldogs compete in the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference.
