UNCW men’s tennis garners national ranking in preseason poll

Checking in with a preseason ranking of No. 74, the UNCW men’s tennis team has been featured in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason poll for the seventh consecutive season.

The Seahawks, who open the spring season on Jan. 16 with a home match against Appalachian State, are the only Colonial Athletic Association team in the rankings.

“We always appreciate being recognized by the ITA as one of the best teams in the country,” said Mait DuBois, UNCW’s ninth-year head coach. “I’m proud of our program’s consistency through the years.”

UNCW has captured four Colonial Athletic Association championships (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014) and advanced to the NCAA Regionals five times (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) in the last seven years.

DuBois is coaching his ninth year with the Seahawks after being named CAA Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season in 2014-15.

The Seahawks are 132-51 in dual matches since DuBois took over the program in 2007-08 and 27-8 in CAA matches.
