The UNCW women’s soccer team’s journey in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship continues on Friday, Nov. 20, when the Seahawks visit Virginia for a 7 p.m. game against the Cavaliers at Klöckner Stadium.
The Seahawks and the Cavaliers will square off in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday night as the University of Southern California and Princeton play in the first game at 4 p.m. The winners of Friday’s games will advance to the third round on Sunday, Nov. 22 at Klöckner Stadium.
Tickets for Friday’s game are $9 for reserved seats, $7 for adult general admission and $5 for youth/students/senior citizen general admission. Fans can order tickets for the tournament online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 FREE(8821).
UNCW, which is one of three Colonial Athletic Association teams to advance to the second round, upped its record to 15-6-1 on the season after posting a 2-0 victory at South Carolina on Friday night. The Seahawks used goals by senior forward Katrina Guillou and junior defender Lauren Nalevaiko to record the first NCAA Tournament win in program history.
Virginia enters the second round of the tournament with a 17-1-2 record after a 7-1 victory over Howard on Friday night. The Cavaliers will bring an 11-game unbeaten streak into Friday’s matchup against the Seahawks, posting a 10-0-1 record over that span.
The Cavaliers defeated UNCW in the regular season meeting between the two teams on Aug. 23 in Charlottesville. Virginia leads the all-time series by a 2-0-0 margin.
