Angelica Biele put in an all-around effort for Topsail on Thursday night as the Pirates grabbed a 3-1 win over South Brunswick to remain unbeaten in league play.
Biele finished with 15 points, 12 kills, 17 assists and 13 digs, while Payton Shoenleber, Marlee Marrotta, Selena Biele and Madi Ford rounded out a well-played defensive game. The quartet combined to record 52 digs. Shoenleber also added 12 kills and 17 assists. Ford also finished with seven blocks.
With the match squared at one game apiece, the Pirates rallied late in the third and fourth sets to pick up the victory.
Topsail moved to 2-0 in league play and 5-2 overall. South Brunswick fell to 0-2 in conference and 7-3 this season.

New Hanover outlasted Ashley 3-2 on Thursday night to record their first conference result of the season. The Wildcats improved to 1-1 in league play and 5-1 overall, while The Screaming Eagles fell to 0-2 in conference and 2-2 overall.
Laney 3 Dixon 0
(25-13, 25-16, 25-22)
Laney rebounded from its setback the other night to pick up a straight set 3-0 sweep over Dixon on Thursday. The Bucs moved to 6-1 overall.
Sarah Jonkheer had six kills to the lead attack, while Alex Erling picked up 16 assists. Haleigh Somberg also recorded 13 digs and Sarah Shropshire served four aces.

Hoggard 5 Wallace-Rose Hill 5
Cesar Cruz scored a pair of goals, while Jared Robertson and Andrew Robinson both found of the back of the net as Hoggard played to a 5-5 draw with Wallace-Rose Hill. Robertson, Cadman Styers, Keaton Simmons and Wyatt Williams also picked up an assist for the Vikings, who moved to 3-1-2 overall.

Laney 9 Topsail 0
Laney swept Topsail 9-0 thanks to strong overall performance as the Bucs moved into top spot in the Mideastern Conference.

Suzie Schoolfield rallied from down one set to grab a 2-6, 6-2 (10-6) victory over Caroline Harris in a single match that lasted nearly two and half hours. Anna Rae Porcelli dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 result at No. 3, while Erin Nesselroade picked up a straight set win over Carmen Jordan on court number one.
Nesselroade and Porcelli also grabbed a 9-8 result as Laney’s top doubles team.
