HAMPSTEAD — A popular nationwide breakfast chain will launch in Hampstead the week of Christmas.

Opening Monday, Dec. 22, Eggs Up Grill will be located at 36-A Station Way, owned and operated by Uber Quezada. The local entrepreneur has transitioned from the automotive sales industry, where he served in management, to build a meaningful community gathering place.

“Opening an Eggs Up Grill is more than a business decision; it is a family decision,” he said in a press release. “My goal is to create a place where families in Hampstead feel at home, just like mine does. We are excited to bring great food, warm hospitality and a true community atmosphere to the neighborhood we love.”

It’s the area’s first Eggs Up Grill — with locations also having opened in Wilmington, Leland and Southport in the last few years. Quezada and his family are Hampstead residents, who plan to partner with local schools, youth programs and organizations.

Quezada also wants to expand the business into other regions of coastal North Carolina, assessing locations across Pender, Brunswick and Duplin counties.

“As we grow, the real success comes from partners who want to build a business that supports families, schools and everyday life in the community,” CEO Ricky Richardson said in a press release.

The restaurant started in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, more than 25 years ago. Today, over 100 Eggs Up Grills are operating, with 85 slated to come.

While the initial Hampstead opening is Dec. 22, a future grand opening celebration will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date. The event will include giveaways, branded merchandise, activities for families including a bounce house and face painting, appearances by local community leaders and a chance to enter to win free breakfast for a year.

Eggs Up Grill will open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Its menu consists of plenty of egg selections — omelets, Benedicts — and breakfast sandwiches, as well as pancakes, waffles and mimosas. Lunch choices include burgers, sandwiches, melts, salads and bowls.

The restaurant has ranked as the top breakfast franchise by “Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise500®” for four consecutive years and, according to the company, has endured record growth, bringing in seasoned and first-time franchise partners.
