WILMINGTON — One of country’s most revered artists is making her way to town this June.

Wynonna Judd — whose career began with her mother, Naomi, as one-half of The Judds — is performing at Wilson Center on June 15, 7:30 p.m.

Judd is embarking on her “Greatest Hits Tour,” featuring many Grammy-winning selections and number one hits. She’s been dubbed “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline” and in the decade Wynonna and her mother were together, from the ’80s through the ’90s, they released six studio albums, won five Grammys, nine Country Music Awards and had 20 singles top Billboard Country charts.

The Judds dismantled in the early 1990s and Wynonna began a successful solo career, including multiple hits such as “She Is His Only Need,” “I Saw the Light,” “No One Else on Earth” and “To Be Loved by You.” As a solo artist, Wynonna has released nine studio albums to date, including 2020’s “Recollections”

In the 21st century, she and Naomi still worked together and reunited for concerts, released a collection of songs with new tracks and greatest hits albums, and even starred in their own reality show in 2011 for one season, ahead of preparing for an 18-city “The Last Encore” tour.

A decade later in 2022, they were prepared to begin touring again for a 10-stop “Final Tour”; however, Naomi died of suicide five months before it was set to take place. Wynonna carried forth in her mother’s honor, bringing along country favorites including Martina McBride, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Faith Hill, Brandi Carlile, Little Big Town, and Trisha Yearwood. It was recorded as part of a documentary, “Wynonna Judd: Between Heaven and Hell,” released in 2023.

Her “Greatest Hits Tour” for 2025 will consist of 23 stops, including two in North Carolina: Cherokee and Wilmington. Tickets go on sale to Wilson Center members on Tuesday, March 11, and to the general public on Friday, March 14, 10 a.m.
