WILMINGTON — The opening night of a co-headlining from My Morning Jacket and Nathaniel Ratliff and the Night Sweats graced the Live Oak Bank Pavilion stage on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Part of the 11-city Eye to Eye tour, the bands switch off opening each night. My Morning Jacket played first through a set of a dozen or tracks, including “Golden,” “I’m Amazed,” and “Holdin Back the Metal.”
Nathaniel Rateliff’s 20-song set included tunes like “I Never Get Old,” “S.O.B.” and “Hey Mama.”
Both bands have played Wilmington before, but together they collaborated onstage during each set. Nathaniel Rateliff joined MMJ for The Band’s “Makes No Difference” and Jim James joined the Night Sweats for Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.”
“We were lucky enough to see Nathaniel and some of the Night Sweats at Preservation Hall in New Orleans some years ago,” Jim James said in a release about the tour. “Our minds were blown, our hearts were opened, and we got swept up in the joy of it all.”
Rateliff added the two bands have become close throughout the years.
“It’s so special to become friends with musicians and peers that you admire and we’re looking forward to bringing our love for each other on the road,” he noted.
