CAROLINA BEACH — The beginning of May will be a celebration of art on Pleasure Island as more than 50 artists participate in the third annual Art in the Yard event.

It’s free to attend on May 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and May 5, noon to 4 p.m., and will showcase varied media: photography, painting, glass, metal, woodwork, resin art, fabric art, jewelry and more.

Artists display their works in participating yards, homes and studios, with all art for sale at each location; tourists can speak with the creators about their works and projects.

Each day, the event kicks off at Good Hops Brewing Company, though participants can start in any location. There are roughly 30 locations, which can be found here. Or scan a QR code on one of the posters around town to access event info.

Printed maps are also available at the Island Arts Council tent at Good Hops Brewing Company and various businesses on the island.

Also taking place in 2024, an art raffle will fundraise for the council. Art has been donated by participating Art in the Yard artists to offer as prizes. Raffle tickets are sold during the event, with prize art on display at Good Hops Brewing; the raffle will be drawn at the close of the event on Sunday.
