OAK ISLAND — A pier on Oak Island will close Tuesday due to an HGTV series filming on the beach.

Beachfront Productions, LLC has pulled permits to work until midnight to film an episode of “Battle On the Beach.” The show consists of three teams, each led by Ty Pennington, Alison Victoria or Taniya Nayak. The groups are instructed to renovate identical beachfront properties.

Judges choose who wins, with the team garnering a $50,000 prize.

According to a release from the town, half of the pier’s parking lot at 705 Ocean Drive will be closed during the production times. However, the Pier House, restaurant, and coffee shop will continue to operate.

The filming also includes a brief fireworks display that evening.
