WILMINGTON — Local thespians looking to score a role in a fall production of the iconic musical “A Chorus Line” can audition Aug. 14 and 15.
Thalian Association Community Theatre welcomes actors to audition both days at 7 p.m. at the Community Arts Center, 120 S. 2nd St. The production is scheduled to run Sept. 29 through Oct. 8 on Thalian Hall’s main stage. The musical will be directed and choreographed by Kendra Goehring with music direction by Cathy Street.
With music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, the show won the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, one of the few ever to receive the honor. It also scored the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play of the season.
The musical takes a closer look behind the scenes at Broadway theatre, centered on 17 dancers auditioning for a place on the chorus line. It follows the backstory of the performers and the choreographer, describing events that helped shaped them and inform their decisions to become dancers.
