WILMINGTON — Thalian Association Community Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming spring production to take place as part of 2023’s Azalea Festival.
“Cinderella” will run at Thalian Hall this April, with auditions scheduled Monday, Jan. 30, and Tuesday, Jan. 31, 7 pm.
Auditions will be held at the Community Arts Center, 120 S. 2nd St. The show will be directed by Samantha Chappell, with musical direction by Denise Hopper and choreography by Tim Mills.
All actors of races and ethnicities are welcome and all roles are available for Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, stepmother, stepsisters, Prince Charming, four white mice, and others, including the ensemble.
A press release from TACT indicates actors should prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre-style song to sing with the sheet music with a pianist accompanying the performance.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is based on 1957’s TV appearance with Julie Andres, recreated in 1965 with Lesley Ann Warren. Another remake took place in a 1997, starring Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother. TACT will base its production on the ’90s teleplay.
To book an appointment, call 910-251-1788. Callbacks will be Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Community Arts Center.
