WILMINGTON — Ahead of the February release of their tenth album, “Lucifer On The Sofa,” Spoon announced a 22-date American tour.

The Austin, Texas, band kicks off the excursion on Feb. 8 in Santa Ana, California, and will wrap Jun. 4 in Phoenix, Arizona, playing across 22 venues. They will land at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on Apr. 28.

This week the band — Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Alex Fischel, Gerardo Larios, and Ben Trokan — dropped the first single from their upcoming album. “Wild” is one of 10 songs on “Lucifer On The Sofa” (Matador Records), slated to come out Feb. 11. The album was written and recorded during the Covid-19 lockdown in the quintet’s hometown of Austin. It kicks off with a cover of “Held,” originally released by another Texas act, Bill Callahan’s Smog.

Spoon most recently paid tribute to Starman David Bowie ahead of his 75th birthday on Jan. 8. The band released a cover of “I Can’t Give Everything Away” from the glam rocker’s last album “Blackstar,” released only days before Bowie’s death on Jan. 11, 2016.

“Lucifer on the Sofa” will be the followup to Spoon’s 2017 release, “Hot Thoughts.”Opening for them at the Greenfield Lake show will be American singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy.

Tickets to the Spoon concert will go on sale Friday, Jan. 21, via Ticketmaster. Presales take place Jan. 20, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. (password: WILD22).
