PENDER COUNTY — A spine-tingling musical is making its way into the county with a youthful twist on the cult classic, “The Addams Family.”
“The Addams Family: Young@Part,” an adaptation of the Broadway musical tailored for youth, is coming to the Hampstead in October.
In collaboration with the Pender County Parks and Recreation team, Untitled Theatre Production will present the show from Oct. 3 to 5 at 7 p.m. in the Hampstead Annex Auditorium, with a matinee at 3 p.m. on Oct. 6. A show at the Historic Penderlea Auditorium in Willard will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12.
This rendition, based on the 1964 film, draws inspiration from the Broadway version that debuted in 2010. In this version, Wednesday Addams, daughter of Morticia and Gomez, falls for a respectable young man from a “normal” family — a contrast to her eccentric upbringing. As the Addams family prepares to host him for dinner, they must navigate themes of growth and the clash between their unconventional lifestyle and Wednesday’s crush’s idea of normality.
Tickets are $15 per person and free for children aged 3 and under. Tickets can be purchased here.
