Photo story: Antiquing in the old pink church on Highway 17

Supply's oldest antique shop is hard to miss -- but you may not realize it's open. Off HIghway 17, Olde Church Antiques has collected and sold treasures for 24 years out of an old Baptist church.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Broken windows, peeling paint. You wouldn’t guess the old pink church on Highway 17 was still open, let alone open for business.

For 24 years, Joyce and Larry Shackelford have run Olde Church Antiques in Supply out of a 1948 building.

The building — an old baptist church — is dilapidated, but that hasn’t stopped the Shackelfords from antiquing.

Worth 38 times less than the land its sitting on, the old Baptist church houses countless treasures. Its owners say it doesn’t have that much life left in it, but intend to stick around to see it through the end.
