Carol B. Fairchild, 69

WILMINGTON — Carol B. Fairchild, a cherished sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on April 12, 1956, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, she lived a life full of love, kindness, and creativity, reaching the age of 69 at her time of passing.

Carol dedicated many years of her life as a machine operator at Hanes Company, where her hard work and dedication were appreciated by all who knew her. Outside of her professional life, Carol was a passionate music lover with a deep admiration for Bob Dylan. She enjoyed drawing and coloring, finding joy and tranquility in each stroke. Her love for animals was evident to everyone who knew her, and she shared her home and heart with her beloved pets.

Preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Rachel R. Baughman, her devoted husband Bobby Fairchild, and her cherished dog Baby, Carol leaves behind a legacy of warmth and affection. She is survived by her loving brothers, Warren and George D. Baughman, as well as her cherished cat Jackie and dog Bobby, who brought her endless companionship and comfort.

While no formal services are planned at this time, Carol’s remains have been donated to Duke University School of Medicine, a decision that reflects her generous spirit and desire to contribute to the future. Those who knew her find solace in the thought that she is now joyfully reunited with her mother and those she dearly missed.

Carol will be remembered for her sweet and kind nature, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
