HAMPSTEAD — Marita Sprouse Howard, 90, of Hampstead, NC passed away at home on Tuesday April 29, 2025. Marita was born on August 31, 1934 in Springfield, IL to Floyd and Jennie Sprouse.
Marita is survived by her husband of 68 years Donald Howard and grandson Zachary Howard. She was preceded in death by her son Greg Howard, as well as her parents. She was surrounded in love by nieces Dawn Humphries, Donna Lawson, and Dana Wise as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Marita enjoyed meeting new people, was a wonderful cook, read books prolifically and loved NFL football with unmatched passion. She kept Don busy changing her outdoor flags seasonally and keeping the bird feeders full for her feathered friends. She also loved flowers of all sorts and enjoyed taking time to make her arrangements beautiful. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A private burial will precede the memorial service at Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, NC.
