SOUTHPORT — Jimmy F. Corn, a resident of St. James Plantation in Southport, NC for 22 years, passed away at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, on April 26, 2025 after a valiant fight to regain his independence following a life-changing accident three years ago. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted family, and is finally at peace.

Jimmy was born in Vivian, LA to Jessie B. and J.C. Corn. He graduated from North Caddo High School and entered the Army where he served in the 24th MP Company in Munich, Germany. While in Germany he met the love of his life, Mary Jane and they were married in 1969 in Litchfield, CT. They later moved to Houston, TX where Jimmy worked in the insurance industry for some time and later returned to Connecticut. Jimmy eventually retired from Orion Group as a Computer Programmer/Analyst.

While in Connecticut, Jimmy was involved in youth sports including soccer, basketball and softball which he loved and will always be remembered by the many lives he touched.

He leaves behind his loving and loyal wife of 56 years, Mary Jane, daughter Tracey (Backus), son-in-law, Glenn and adored granddaughter, Caroline.

Jimmy was predeceased by his mother, Jessie B., sister, Jackie and his Aunt Jerry Gayle.

He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grampy, father-in-law, and friend and loved spending time traveling the world with Mary Jane. The ultimate family man, he will be forever missed.

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
