WILMINGTON — Mrs. Eva Marie Stone, age 68, of Wilmington entered the Gates of Heaven on April 3, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born on August 6, 1956, in Charleston, SC.
Eva was a shining Light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. Eva had an affinity for people often oppressed and forgotten. She was devoted to her community of people experiencing homelessness, hunger, addiction and/or mental illness.
She always took the Light into the World.
Eva is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Tony Stone, her daughters Emily Holcomb (husband Nicholas) & Stacy Alabama Stone, cherished grandson Leo Holcomb and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Eva was preceded in death by her parents Robert Strom Sr. & Beverly Ann Farrow Strom, sister Diana Richardson and brothers Robert Strom II, Randall Strom & Scott Strom.
She graduated from J. T. Hoggard High School, Miller-Motte College and was a member of Pine Valley Methodist Church. She enjoyed the beach, fishing, gardening and loved animals of all types. Eva was most happy spending time with her family, friends and loyal dog Dixie Crystal.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Eva will be held at 11:00 AM on May 10, 2025 in the Sanctuary at Pine Valley Methodist Church at 3788 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC. Reception & Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to any ministry or organization supporting the homeless community.
