WILMINGTON — Laneva M. Bjelde, born on September 7, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 74. Laneva lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and love, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
With a nurturing spirit and a commitment to serving others, Laneva obtained her associate’s degree to be a Registered Nurse at the University of Texas-Pan America in 1972. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse and worked tirelessly as a civilian for the US Army. Her career was a testament to her unwavering dedication to providing care and support to those in need. Laneva’s endless pursuit of knowledge resulted in her earning a Master’s Degree of Science in Rehab Counseling at the University of North Texas in 1995.
Laneva found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for the beach, often visiting just to feel the sand beneath her fingertips and breathe in the salt-kissed air. The boardwalk swings at Carolina Beach were her cherished retreat, where she would soak up the warm sunshine and contemplate the beauty of the world around her.
To her family, Laneva was more than just a mother and grandmother; she was their guiding light and steadfast compass. Her presence offered a grounding point, providing reassurance and stability to everyone she loved. Over the last 18 years, Laneva has resided with her daughter, Krystal White, and son-in-law, Kevin White, along with a large circle of family which are her grandkids, Clinton Lawrence, Victoria Outtrim, Nickalus White, Natalia White, Krystian White, Kyndra White, and Tomas Briano, and her great grandkids, Alice White, Liam Stucky, Copelyn Lawrence, Augustus Lawrence, Luna Lawrence, and they will miss her deeply.
She was a true blessing to all our lives and are better for it. Her love went beyond her family, and would show the same love to other families and children in the community.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Laneva will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1361 Old Fayetteville Rd, Leland.
In remembering Laneva, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love and kindness that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
