WILMINGTON — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret “Meg” Mary Reuter, who left this world on April 7, 2025. She was 77 years old.
Born on July 23, 1947, Meg dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a devoted mother and grandmother and as a compassionate LPN, serving the Wilmington area for 15 years. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her.
Meg was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick L. Reuter, as well as her siblings, Martin Leahy and Ellen Listort. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Don), Athena (John), and Steven (Michele), who will forever cherish her memory. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nicholas, Lauren, Dayna, Cassidy, Anthony, Madison, Jordyn, and Rylee, each of whom brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her brother, Frank Leahy (Maryellen), nieces nephews and a legacy of love and creativity.
A talented quilter and an incredible cook, Meg had a gift for making any house feel like home. Her craftwork and her meals were more than hobbies—they were expressions of her love, woven into fabric and shared around the table with family and friends.
Meg was also deeply committed to her community, volunteering for many years with Meals on Wheels and at the Haven House thrift store in Hampstead, NC. Her generosity and compassion extended far beyond her family, touching countless lives through her quiet acts of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
Meg’s kindness, strength, and creativity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Please leave memories and condolences for Meg’s family here.
