WILMINGTON — Linda Gore Loveless, of Wilmington, NC, unexpectedly but peacefully stepped into the arms of her Savior at the age of 81 on April 16th, 2025, surrounded by friends and family. Linda was born on August 12,1943 in Southport, NC.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Edward Vance Gore Sr. and Susan Messic Parker Gore and her brothers Alric, Edward Jr. “EV”, Howard, and Jack. Linda is survived by her two favorite people, her granddaughters, Brooke and Bryna Barton, as well as her daughter Missy Barton (husband Eric) and son Jeff Loveless (wife Karen).
Linda, better known as Mimi, loved spending time with her granddaughters more than anything. If you needed to find Linda, her granddaughters would be the best place to look. Mimi never missed a game, school event, or any moment of their lives. Whether it was watching television on the couch or catching a plane to a new location, Mimi and her two granddaughters were inseparable. Linda loved to travel with her friends and family and was thankful to see a lot of the world with the people she loved. On more of a regular basis, Linda enjoyed boat days with her family, walking around the Wrightsville Beach loop, and shopping for her granddaughters. Linda’s most recent hobby included collecting shells along the beach and turning them into beautiful crafts.
Linda attended Campbell University and later received her accounting degree from UNC Wilmington but was a lifelong UNC Tarheel fan. She lived most of her adult life in Wilmington, working as an accountant for over 40 years, mostly for the CPA firms
Williford-Houston and Stroud and Company.
A service to celebrate Linda’s life and her legacy will take place on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel in Wilmington, NC at 3:00 pm. The family will receive visitors before the service from 2:00pm-3:00 pm. A burial service will be held at Jennies Branch Baptist Church in Shallotte, NC after the life celebration.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Animal League, a renowned animal rescue and adoption organization. Linda was excited to support the NSAL through a fundraiser for her granddaughter running in the 2025 NYC Marathon who she was incredibly proud of.
