Klaus Herbert Huether, 88

Klaus Herbert Huether (Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care)

WILMINGTON — Klaus Herbert Otto Huether, better known as Nick, of Hubert, entered eternal rest on April 13, 2025, at Novant Health-Wilmington. Born on February 1, 1937, in Pirmasens, Germany, he lived a full and vibrant life, passing away at the age of 88.

Nick was a man of deep Christian faith, whose life’s work and interests were marked by dedication and love. He served in the Army while residing in Queens, NY, a commitment that underscored his sense of duty and service. He was a truck driver in the army, bringing supplies to the front lines and earned a sharpshooter and expert carbine badge. His professional career included significant tenures at the Bulova Watch Company in Ridgewood, NY, and as a Car Inspector for CSX Railroad in Coxsackie, NY, where he worked diligently for over 30 years. Known for his industrious spirit, Nick was a hard worker who took pride in providing for his family.

Nick’s passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid painter of landscapes, capturing the beauty of nature with each brushstroke. He found joy in spending time with his family and cherished his moments with animals, especially his beloved cat, Chloe.

Nick will be remembered as a well-liked, giving, and compassionate man who provided unwavering support for his family. Known for his humor and infectious laughter, he had a penchant for sharing the same joke repeatedly, enjoying each retelling as though it were brand new. His one liner’s were much like his favorite comedian, Rodney Dangerfield.

Nick was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Patricia Huether; his parents, Heinrich and Elisabeth (Ullmer) Huether; and his brother, Henry Huether.

He is survived by his loving children: daughters Laura Valle of Newport, NC, and Christina Huether of Fayetteville, NC; sons Edward (Maria) Huether of Ravena, NY, and Thomas (Jennifer) Huether of Conway, SC. He leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren—Torio, Amy, Bryan, Emily, Luke, Isabela, and Lorenzo—who carry forward his legacy.

A small gathering to celebrate Nick’s life will be held at a later date; details will be announced by the family. In honoring his life, let us remember the laughter he shared, the love he spread, and the faith that sustained him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered in our hearts.
