WILMINGTON — Clyde Pender, 80 years old of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
He was born on July 17, 1944 in Finklea, SC to the late Dudley and Rosa Bell Pender. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Clyde Pender; great grandson, Mason Shaw; brother, Tom Pender and a special nephew, Dale Causey.
Clyde faced cancer with immense strength, resilience and grace. Even though the most difficult time he continued to work with his unwavering positive attitude and determination that was a testament to his character.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maxine R. Pender; daughters, Tammy Langley and husband Tom, and Cheyenne Robinson Pender; grandchildren, Jade Edens and Taylor Shaw; great grandchildren, Jackson Edens and Rylie Shaw; brothers: Mack Pender, LD Pender and wife Barbara, Wayne Pender, Clayton Pender and wife Bonnie; sisters, Daphine Causey, Marvoline Watts, Vera Mills, and many nieces and nephews.
Clyde loved riding his Harley, going to round track races, meeting friends at the Waffle House on Saturday mornings, hosting large family gatherings, where he was the life of the party. Most of all Clyde loved spending time on his boat fishing and shrimping with his family. Clyde was a long time employee of Harrellson’s Mechanical as a pipefitter and supervisor.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday April 22, 2025 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Road, Wilmington, NC 28409. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.
Pallbearers will be: Taylor Shaw, Jackson Edens, Freddie Shaw, Mark Watts, Jonathan Edwards and Henry Beurer. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Clayton Pender, Wayne Pender, Mack Pender, LD Pender, Lloyd Fields and Carlos Miguel.
