WILMINGTON — Ralph R. Blankenship, aged 78, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on January 19, 1947, in Grundy, Virginia, Ralph lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and country.

Ralph honorably served in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was a proud member of the First Cavalry Unit and served his country with valor in Vietnam. Following the war, Ralph’s service took him to various locations, including a memorable tour in Hawaii and Fort Lee.

After retiring from the Army, Ralph transitioned to a successful career as a Sales Broker in real estate, where his integrity and work ethic were evident to all who worked with him.

A man of deep faith, Ralph was a committed member of the Pentecostal faith and found community and solace among his fellow veterans as a faithful member of VFW Post #2067 in North East, Maryland. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time on his personal computer researching many things, and keeping up with world news and events.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Keither Blankenship and Victoria Hurley Blankenship, as well as his brothers, Walter, Estel, and Charles. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Charlotte Jean Russell Blankenship; his two sons, Keith Ronald Blankenship and wife Bernadette Marie, and Kevin Michael Blankenship and wife Michelle; and his cherished grandchildren Quinton, Paige, Logan, and Lindsey; and his faithful companion “Oliver”, who was always by his side.

Ralph’s legacy is one of courage, love, and steadfast commitment—values he instilled in his family and those around him.
