WILMINGTON — Irene Jacobs Wells, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Irene was born in Robeson County to the late Lee and Cora Lee Bell Jacobs. She spent her life devoted to her family and community, radiating love and warmth to everyone around her.
Irene worked for Siemens Company for many years before retiring in the early nineties. Her dedication and hard work were evident throughout her career, and she made lasting contributions to the company and her colleagues.
Irene is survived by her loving family: Son: Tim Wells and his wife Daphne of Wilmington, NC; Granddaughter: Mackenzie Blake Wells and Bentley “Benson” (4-legged Grandson); Daughter: Tammy Thompson and her husband Jackie Thompson of Wallace, NC; Grandchildren: Madison Thompson and Jackson Thompson and Charlie: her beloved 4-legged companion. She also leaves behind her surviving siblings: May Ola Locklear of Lumberton, NC, Cora Etiska Strickland of Lumberton, NC, Daniel Jacobs of Lumberton, NC.
Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry C. Wells, in 1983; her parents, Lee and Cora Lee Bell Jacobs; and her siblings: Dallas Lee Jacobs, Jimmy Allen Jacobs, Dalton Jacobs, Clyde Jacobs, Sanford Jacobs, Sally Jacobs Callahan, Hilton Jacobs, Ludahlia Jacobs Wilkins, Bonnie Jacobs Wilkins.
Irene’s family will always cherish the memories of her love, her dedication, and her unwavering faith.
Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever. Irene’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering support, and she will be remembered lovingly by all.
