WILMINGTON — William Gordon Ramsey, Sr., 81, of Wilmington, died Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, after a long illness.
Mr. Ramsey was born December 17, 1943, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Bailey Gordon Ramsey and Harriet Clark Ramsey.
He was a proud veteran of the National Guard. Following his discharge, he went to work for GE Aviation as a machinist from 1971 to 1996. In retirement, he loved deer hunting and fishing. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping with his wife, along with his sister Yvonne Brigman and husband Jimmy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jeanette Lockey Ramsey and sister, Patrica Harker.
Survivors include his son, William Ramsey, Jr. (Linda) of Burgaw; daughter, Julie Ramsey Horrell of Wilmington, grandchildren, Christian Horrell, Sgt. Patrick Caleb Horrell (Memory) and Austin Ramsey; two great-grandsons, Landyn and Ezra; sister Yvonne Brigman (Jimmy) and several nieces and nephews.
