WILMINGTON — Anthony Butler, born on May 9, 1977, in Albany, New York, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 47.
Anthony, affectionately known to many as Tony, dedicated nearly two decades of his career to serving as a chef at Eagle Point Golf Course. His culinary skills were not only his profession but also his passion, as he delighted in sharing his talent with family and friends. Known for his infectious smile that could light up any room, Anthony carried a joyful spirit that touched the lives of all those around him.
Raised in the Catholic faith, Anthony was a man who valued his relationships deeply. He found immense joy in spending time with his beloved mother, Sally Centanni, who survives him, and cherished being an uncle to the children of his “band of brothers,” the close-knit group he considered family. Whether attending outdoor concerts of his favorite band, the Grateful Dead, or relaxing by the pool, Anthony enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, always surrounded by loved ones.
Though preceded in death by his family member Todd F. Butler and his special pet Elvis, Anthony leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and delicious meals shared among friends and family. His brother, along with many extended family and friends, carry forward his memory.
A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home, 5005 Lord Byron Rd., Wilmington, NC 28405.
