WILMINGTON — Ellen Mitchell Daughtry, 63, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 26th, at home surrounded by family. Born in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Clark Mitchell and Suzanne Sparling Greene. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Wes Mitchell.
Ellen graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with an English degree. She retired after 25 years of service with Morrisette Packaging in Raleigh, NC. Ellen was a devoted mother to her three daughters. Her family was her pride and joy.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Grey Daughtry; three daughters: Lauren Daughtry of Raleigh, NC, Kellie Kearney and her husband Nate of Southport, NC, and Lane Daughtry of Cary, NC. She is also survived by her brother, John Mitchell, and his partner Greta Medlin of Charleston, SC; her sister, Donna Lutz, and her husband Don of Greensboro, NC; her nephews, Mitch Lutz of New York, NY, and Chris Lutz and his wife Kasey of Charleston, SC; and her granddaughter, Audrey Kearney of Southport, NC.
A heartfelt thank you to Beth and Abby from the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice Team.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
