Dorothy E. Banom, 87

CAROLINA SHORES — Dorothy E. Banom, aged 87, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Carolina Shores, NC. Born on August 23, 1937, in Manhattan, NY, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, kindness, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dorothy spent a fulfilling career as a receptionist for a general dentist in New Jersey, where she was known for her warm smile and compassionate nature. Her work was more than just a job; it was an opportunity to connect with others and brighten their days with her gentle demeanor.

Outside of work, Dorothy enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid fan of the QVC network, found joy in decorating her home for the holidays—especially Christmas—and loved watching old television game shows. In her later years, television became a cherished outlet, providing comfort and connection to the world.

Despite financial constraints, Dorothy’s heart was always open to those in need. She consistently found ways to donate to the ASPCA, children’s organizations, and veteran agencies, embodying her belief in giving back to the community and supporting those less fortunate.

Dorothy cherished solitude, finding peace and reflection in quiet moments. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a firm believer in Christ, which guided her actions and decisions throughout her journey.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Christian and Lillian Tirre, and her sister, Betty. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory in their hearts: her son, Mark Banom and his girl friend, Vilma Buska, and daughter, JoAnn Banom, both of Carolina Shores; her granddaughter, Adriana Banom; her brothers, Christian and George Tirre of New Jersey; and her cherished fur baby, Cleo.

Though no formal services are planned at this time, Dorothy’s family and friends will celebrate her life by carrying forward her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her.

In remembrance of Dorothy E. Banom, let us honor her life by embracing the love and compassion she so freely shared with the world.
