LELAND — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cora Elizabeth Cartrette, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Cora left this world on February 18, 2025, at the age of 45. Born on June 28, 1979, in Ohio, she brought boundless joy and inspiration to all who knew her.
Cora’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. She spent her most recent years working at Chick-fil-A in Leland, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of customers and colleagues alike. Her career also included fulfilling roles at New Hanover Regional Hospital and Rampage Yachts, where she made lasting impacts with her dedication and work ethic.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Cora was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Brandon Cartrette, and a nurturing mother to her three cherished children: River Johnson, Patricia Johnson, and Kyle Cartrette. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them was immeasurable. She took great joy in fishing, spending time on the beach, and creating precious memories with her family. Her spiritual home at Crosswinds Church in Leland was a place where she found strength with the Lord.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Patricia (Ward) Smith. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her husband, Brandon; her children, River, Patricia, and Kyle; her brother, Harold Smith; her sisters, Lynn Smith and Anna Smith; and her stepmother, Audrey Smith.
